Beijing University of Chinese Medicine was founded in 1956. It is the only national level Chinese medical university and continuously supported by the central government and its successive leaders. Currently, more than 9,200 students enrolled full time, and 13.3% of them from oversea. For 60 years, 14,000 oversea students from 89 countries and regions have graduated from the university. Beijing University of Chinese Medicine has always dedicated to promote scientific research to lead the development of Chinese medical education and clinical practice. Its research projects ranked top one for seven consecutive years among all Chinese medical universities in China. The three affiliated university hospitals have 2,200 beds and 22,000 outpatients per day. Through integrating Chinese medicine and western medicine, the hospitals always stay on the top position in cardiovascular disease, cancer, and metabolic syndrome treatment. In recent years, the university has established cooperative relations with 103 oversea universities from 29 countries and regions. Beijing University of Chinese Medicine has become the Window of China for international exchanges and cooperation in Chinese Medicine.
