About

Yanbian University, founded in 1949, was once affiliated to the Ministry of Higher Education, and was subordinate to Jilin Province in 1957. In August 1958, Yanbian University was divided into Yanbian University, Yanbian Medical College, Yanbian Agricultural College and Yanbian Institute of Technology. In 1996, with the approval of the State Education Commission, the original Yanbian University, Yanbian Medical College, Yanbian Agricultural College, Yanbian Teachers College and Yanbian Branch of Jilin Academy of Arts merged to form a new Yanbian University. In September of the same year, the Chinese foreign cooperatively run school Yanbian University of Science and Technology (preparatory) was merged into Yanbian University. Yanbian University is a national "double first-class" construction university, a national "211 Project" key construction university, a key university for the development of the west, a university jointly supported by the People's Government of Jilin Province and the Ministry of Education, a university jointly supported by the People's Government of Jilin Province and the National People's Committee, and has been selected into the "Central and Western University Basic Capacity Construction Project", the "National Construction of High level University Public Graduate Program" "Excellent Doctor Education and Training Plan", "Excellent Agriculture and Forestry Talents Education and Training Plan", the national "111 Plan", etc.
