Beijing Technology and Business University, abbreviated as Beishang, is a key research university in Beijing and a doctoral degree awarding unit. Beijing Technology and Business University was formed in June 1999 by the merger of Beijing Institute of Light Industry, Beijing University of Business and School of Machinery Industry Management Cadres. Beijing Business School was formerly the All China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives Cadre School built in 1950 and the Central Business Cadre School built in 1953. In 1958, the two schools were merged into the Central Business Cadre School. In 1959, the Central Business School was founded, and in 1960, it was renamed Beijing Business School. It was the earliest business school established in New China, and the first batch of master's degree awarding units approved by the State Council. It was successively subordinate to the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Domestic Trade. Founded in 1958, Beijing Institute of Light Industry is the first light industry university in China, which has successively been subordinate to the Ministry of Light Industry and the China Light Industry Federation. The Machinery Industry Management Cadre Institute was founded in 1982 and is subordinate to the Ministry of Machinery Industry.
