Founded in March 1959 in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, Wuxi Institute of Technology (WXIT) is a state-run vocational college focused on training high-quality technicians for the modern service industry. Initially established as the Wuxi Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing School, it evolved into Wuxi Vocational Institute of Technology in 2000. WXIT is one of China’s first national model higher vocational institutions and began offering four-year undergraduate vocational training in 2012. WXIT has two campuses, Zhongqiao and Taihu, covering over 850 acres with a building area of 368,700 square meters. The institute's assets total 1.1 billion yuan, including 228 million yuan in teaching and research equipment. The library holds 1.3 million books. The institute comprises 14 teaching units, including the School of Mechanical Technology, School of Control Technology, School of Internet of Things Technology, and School of Automotive and Transportation, among others. It offers 48 majors, including six undergraduate programs, focusing on equipment manufacturing and emerging industries. WXIT is known for its high-level teaching teams, innovative programs, and significant contributions to vocational education. It hosts two national-level professional teaching resource banks and numerous national and provincial-level quality courses. The institute publishes the national vocational education journal "Mechanical Vocational Education" and the academic journal "Journal of Wuxi Vocational and Technical College."
