Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU), founded in 1944, is a prominent teacher‑training university directly under China’s Ministry of Education and part of the national “211 Project.” Located in the historic city of Xi’an, SNNU has grown into a comprehensive research university with 21 schools and departments, offering 65 bachelor’s majors, 159 master’s specializations, 69 doctoral specializations, and hosting 18 post‑doctoral research stations. The university is particularly strong in fields such as Chinese Language and Literature, History and Cultural Studies, Education, Psychology, and Bio‑engineering. With nearly 2,800 faculty members, over 1,740 full-time teachers and more than 88% holding master’s or doctoral degrees, SNNU upholds its reputation as a “cradle of teachers.” The campus serves more than 17,900 undergraduates, around 12,000 postgraduates, plus over 1,000 international students. SNNU is dedicated to global exchange, with partnerships in more than 34 countries and close involvement in transnational research, including through its International Joint Research Center for Food and Health Sciences.
