About

Nanjing Medical University is a national "double first-class" construction university. It is one of the first batch of medical universities jointly built by the Ministry of Education, the National Health Commission and the People's Government of Jiangsu Province. It is also a Class A construction university of the Jiangsu High level University Construction Summit Plan. The school was founded in 1934, and was then named Jiangsu Provincial Medical and Political College. During the Anti Japanese War, it was renamed National Jiangsu Medical College. In 1957, Zhenjiang moved to Nanjing and was renamed Nanjing Medical College. In 1962, it was listed as one of the first six year medical colleges in China. In 1981, it was approved as one of the first batch of units to confer doctor's and master's degrees in China. In 1993, it was renamed as Nanjing Medical University
